The Marks & Spencer’s London Fashion Weekend show last Saturday saw top hair session stylists, Ayo Laguda, Johnny Sapong and team member, Danny Defreitas, using Philip Kingsley products to create gorgeous runway hair. The show took place in the prestigious setting of Somerset House and showcased key trends from the much talked about Autumn Winter ‘13 collection and the highly anticipated Best of British Collection. Clothing trends included  pinstripes, vintage lace and luxurious leather, while hair took the form of romantic waves. This week we caught up with Ayo, Johnnie and Danny to find out about their favourite PK products, and how they used them to create the stunning looks seen at M&S LFW:

AYO LAGUDA: As a leading session hair stylist, Ayo has spent over 20 years styling hair for top fashion shows, magazine shoots and celebrities (think Vogue, Elle, Prada and Hermes)

Favourite Product: PREEN CREAM

Ayo was in fact one of the first stylists to use Preen Cream back in 1986! It “happened by chance” he says, when Frauke, a famous german model, came onto a Bloomingdales campaign set wielding tiny hand-made bottles of Preen Cream – then called PM36.

“Her hair was very fine and delicate” Ayo remarks “Preen Cream made it smooth & silky. ‘This is amazing this stuff!’ I thought. It became my secret weapon” Ever since it has been the only finishing product Ayo uses to make hair look alive and vibrant in the studio. At the M&S show Ayo & Johnny Sapong worked their magic, along with the helping hand of Preen Cream to create shiny, beautiful waves.

JOHNNIE SAPONG: A world-renowned celebrity and fashion hair stylist, with clients including Jude Law, Natalie Portman, Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow. Johnnie’s skills have been showcased in every top international magazine from Allure and Vogue to GQ and Vanity Fair – where he has worked with established photographers such as Karl Lagerfeld and David Baily!

Favourite Product: PREEN CREAM

Johnnie, like Ayo, used Philip Kingsley Preen Cream to create those gorgeous waves as seen at the M&S London Fashion Weekend show. Why Johnnie loves it? “Because it brings the hair to life and adds effortless shine.”

DANNY DEFREITAS: An expert hair and make-up artist, working within all aspects of the industry such as TV, film, theatre, celebrities & fashion. Danny is also the Beauty & Lifestyle Editor for QWHO Magazine and Director of Hair & Make Up Design for VIVID Fashion Group Productions along with being an Educator at two different renowned Academies in London.

Favourite Product: DAILY DAMAGE DEFENCE

“I first came across Philip Kingsley many years ago” says Danny, “when my mother needed special hair attention to hep promote growth and rejuvenate her dark brown locks. This is not just another hair care range but a range that nourishes and looks after your hair whilst still achieving beautiful styling results.” Danny’s favorite product happens to be Daily Damage Defence because “from the first application your hair feels softer, smoother and fuller instantly. It’s like a conditioner and protection in one. I use it as a pre-styler on myself and also  at London Fashion Week”
